What does Wings Kalahan do when he isn't on the air? He goes on the road, of course! And he takes his broadcast studio with him, in Hot Rod Style!
Until its retirement in 1995, this 1938 Chevy was used, exclusively, to tow the 40-foot "Cruisin' with Wings" broadcast trailer to all National Street Rod Association events, logging more than 174,000 miles in seven seasons of service. The truck was assembled and built over the winter of 1987-'88, to tow a combined vehicle weight (truck and trailer) of 25,000 lbs. After a minor rebuild in 1998, the '38 now sees about 5,000 miles per year, towing to and from selected Street Rod events.
This is one hard working Street Rod!
